Band Beginnings & the Produce Section
The members of Dirtnap met at School of Rock in 2017. The musicians were in middle school when they decided to form a metal band in 2018. The Original members of Dirtnap were: Ever McCarthy (drums), Joe Connelly (guitar), Dexter Giglio (bass) and Dan Furmanski (guitar/vocals). Together, they worked on writing original metal music.
There's been some shuffling along the way. When Dexter moved on to his band Tachyonn, they recruited Zack Pedicone for bass, then they convinced talented vocalist, Dade Walker to help get them started. Their first gig was supposed to be in High School Park in Elkins Park Music Festival, but since it was raining, they ended up in the produce section of their local grocery!
When Dade entered into his home stretch of High School, they turned to Dylan McNulty for vocals and they worked on more original music together. December 2019, Dirtnap released their debut album, Apollo Sin. They performed at The Bitter End NYC, Hard Rock Cafe Philadelphia, Fire Philly, and World Cafe Live. They were booked at multiple venues, including The Keswick Theater, and were on track to "go big or go home" before live performances came to a screeching halt in 2020 because of the pandemic. The band had no way to keep it going at that time so they headed in different directions and discovered how to make music in other ways. They went from the produce aisle to music producers and started recording their own different styles of music at home.
In 2021, the band came back better than ever with their original vocalist, Dade Walker and released their new single Gone. The following year, Dirtnap opened for Liliac at The Landis Theater and opened for Marcy Playground at the Bourré in Atlantic City. Dan's exit in 2022 brought 14-year old Brandon Purdy to the band on Rhythm Guitar. Brandon's energetic enthusiasm is a perfect fit for Dirtnap!
Currently, Joe, Ever, Dade, Zack and Brandon are in the studio recording new music. Stay tuned for more big things for Dirtnap in Dirtnap's future!
